A group of concerned Americans of Hispanic/Latino heritage, some first or second generation, others recent legal immigrants, who believe illegal immigration harms America , have formed a loose coalition of individuals called “You Don’t Speak for me.”
When Col. Al Rodriguez became fed up watching media coverage of the mass protests of April, 2007, where their leaders were saying it was a march for immigrant rights and a Latino/Hispanic movement, he thought “Hey, those are illegal aliens not immigrants!” Col. Rodriguez began speaking out to others saying, “I’m of Hispanic ancestry and those people are acting like they speak for me. Well, you don’t speak for me!. And YDSFM was born. Those who have come to this country legally and have worked hard to become citizens deserve our praise and support. It is unfair to them for illegal aliens to break our laws then demand and receive all of the benefits of citizenship. Current laws are being flagrantly disregarded by those in authority for reasons of greed and exercise of power. Our grassroots efforts are going to change that!
